Hello Friends,
Sorry for writing English.
I have a problem with my Peugeot 407 V6, it has the same engine as a Citroen C5 V6.
The diagnostic tool Peugeot planet2000 shows me the error "Sporadicly Fault - Position Camshaft Unknown - Fault Code P1335"
One day my engine oil came out from the magnetic ventil (partnumber 1920HE).
My Peugeot service station changed both magnetic ventils but the fault codes are still there... than they changed both camshaft-sensors and made the camshaft-belt and checked the timing of it but the fault code didn't go.
Because of that I sometimes have a power loss on the car. I think it is because this fault code.
My Peugeot service station doesn't have any idea what is the reason of this fault code.
Does anyone know what it is ??
Please write back in English, German or Croatian.
Thank you very much.

In short, the "leaking valve story" is as follows.
My C5 V6 is from august 2007, so less than 3 years old now. At 135 kkm I suddely had a major oilleak, I lost some 2 liters in less than 8 km.
It turned out being the rear valve 1920 HE, make Delphi , which has been replaced.
After opening it I discovered the cause, which is wear of the aluminium tube inside the coil, see the pictures. This tube has a double function: it is a kind of bearing for the iron core of the colil, but at the same time it shall prevent the oil coming out.
And since the wall of the tube is only some 0,28 mm thick, by the wear it was reduced to less than 0,10 on a certain area, which was insufficient to withstand the oilpressure inside
In the meantime I have exchanged the second valve as well and opened it.
There I found that the wall thickness of the alu-tube at one area was reduced to 0,12 mm, so some 0,16 mm had already disappeared. So in the next 10000-20000 km this valve also would have broken, as I think.....
These green Delphi valves 1920 HE have been introduced on the ES9A V6 for the C5-II.
The ES9J4S used the grey valves 1920 AX, of which I am presently trying to find out its make. And hopefully I can grab one for further investigations.
My question to you: at what mileage did this happen to you?
And how much oil was spilled before you discovered it?
Regards,
JW

hello JW-NHS,
My problem, i think, are not the valves anymore.
After replacing the valves i noticed a problem with the camshaft and the error code P1335.
Sporadically Fault: "Position Camshaft Unknown" Fault Code P1335
My peugeot Workstation replaced for a second time both valves, but no improvement...
They replaced both camshaft-sensors... and installed a brand new timing belt on the engine... but the error is still there...
They spend like 30-40 hours on my car but they have absolutely no idea what the reason is.
P.S. at 98.000km I heard a dangerous sound from the engine... and a warning "STOP low pressure Motor-oil"
I stopped, it was dark i couldn't see where the oil came out.
My workstation tells me it came out from the valve...

Thanks for the additional information. As low as with you, we have not yet seen that the valve has broken down: 98.000 kms
At what sort of occasions you have this failure? Is it with the engine still cold? Or when it has been properly warmed up?
And at which rpm's does this happen? To my knowledge the valve only works in the region 1500-4000 rpm, and thus the camshaft position sensor should only work in this region as well, as I presume.

JW

It is difficult to explain... I have power loss, I think, when the engine is warmed up more as when it is cold....
When I need power the rmp will fall down for a second, mostly at the region between 1700-2000 rmp
That is a very strange fault
My workstation called Peugeot Saarbrücken central to ask what the problem is... but there the specialists also have no idea.
A guy from Russia told me the problem is the "camshaft oil clutches".

The camschaft timing change, resulting from activating the valve, is a complicated proces. It requires proper oil flow and pressure inside the inlet camshaft.
As your engine was very close to a fatal breakdown due to lack of oil and oil pressure, I am wondering wether the mechanisme in the camshaft still works properly. When something is malfunctionning there, it may result in wrong interaction between the valve, sensor and engine computer. And thus to a bad behaviour when accelerating
How to solve it will be difficult. It may be necessary to open the engine and check the inlet camshafts on this issue....
